2wheeldrive, don't get discouraged. Wheelin is all about having fun. The more capable your rig is the less fun you have on the simple trails. So really, you are in a good position to enjoy some light stuff. And besides....

The problem is I really don't want to mess up the car so I look up to u guys for the advice I also have to try to do these things cheep becouse I don't make a ton of money 2wd was the best I could afford I wish I was 4wheel but I couldn't pay for it so I work with what I got I know I am the youngest one here and to you guys I am just a little kid.

I definitely hear ya with the money thing man... no worries, you're not alone there! My only recommendation is this: just like building a house, do it right THE FIRST TIME. I'm now having to go back and replace part after part (i.e. rock rails replaced my OEM step rails) because, like you, I'm wanting my FJ to be more offroad-capable. That being said, I'd recommend that you check out the available aftermarket rock rails from various companies, and if you feel confident enough, fabricate your own based on those designs. If you don't feel confident, do what I do and SAVE YO DOLLAZ UP!!!!

I've not been to Gulches personally, so maybe someone else can suggest better, but I'd say it mostly depends on A.) how aggressive you drive, and B.) what trails you're wanting to attempt. Just know that at most place, the more intense courses can be surpassed by smaller vehicles if they don't want to risk the damage.

I think you'll be surprise by what your rig is capable of, even with 2wd and stocks!

Check Craigslist. There's always something on there. Sliders and tires both

Tractor tires work great. They're cheap and narrow. You just have to be able to handle the noise on the road.

I've got the front end leveled and I'm running the stock size(265/70-17) Nitto Terra Grappler. You might could go to a 285 but I personally like the ability to have the tires "tuck" really well.
