I think all of these are pretty decent. Ive stayed it the Holiday Inn before several years ago and it wasnt bad at all from what I remember.

keep me updated with what we decide, im up for whatever.

I know some of the restaurants close after the summer but ill look into some of the restaurants around where we decide to stay. If we stay in Kitty Hawk, Sugar Creek is right there close ill find out when they close and let you know.

Thanks man, ANY help is greatly appreciated!! We would need a room or area in the restaurant that could hold a good sized group of people (hopefully!!)

Any time, I know they have a backside of the restaurant that is a big room that is opened up that would work fine. Im not sure when they close or what month they close. Their phone number is (252) 441-3888 if you wanted to call them with any questions but they also have a website. I looked to see if they had on there when they close but they didnt I can call if you need me to but Im sure they will want a number of people that is coming. If you want me to call them or need any help with anything else just let me know. Very Happy

We have stayed at the Quality Inn in Kill Devil Hills and it was decent. Planning to stay there again soon.

So ill get to meet you too Jami?

David if we do stay in Kitty Hawk or Kill Devil Hills its about the same distance to both Corolla/Carova and Oregon Inlet with Hatteras being a little bit further maybe we can hit more than just Carova and Corolla. I havent been down as far as hatteras in a few years since some of it has been closed due to the birds nesting.

Hopefully Nick, the only thing that could keep me from making it is either the weather or some family related issues.

Just want to get this out there - want to plan for Sept-Oct time frame. Any suggestions for dates? I want to be part of it of course, so I will consider all dates that are suggested and come up with one that suits the majority.

Some general info about the OBX can be foud on our forum by following this link:

http://forum.ncfjcruisers.com/f37-the-outer-banks-obx

************************* UPDATE AUGUST 8, 2011 *****************************

So, I am in preliminary planning phase for the OBX run. Here is what I am thinking:

1. October 22-23

2.At least one overnight stay (Saturday), or possibly Friday and Saturday
night? I am looking up hotels in the area to get rates/deals. I will post my findings when available

3. Location: Corolla - Duck and beach area north of
Duck (HWY 12N ends in Corolla and the beach access begins...there is
also a gas station right near the entrance to the beach there so we can
all air back up as soon as we hit pavement.

Lets start there with
ideas and see the responses we get. Then we can move forward with more
details and plans as a group (would be cool to see a bunch of FJs
"touring" various OBX sites together.....

Post all responses and ideas here.

Sounds good to me David. Id like to be able to make it a "two-nighter" especially if we want to visit a few different places. I havent been there in YEARS (pre-FJ) so I cant remember how far it is from here but I think an extra night might go over well. But if not, thats fine too. Im in either way.

Very cool! I checked it out, looks nice

I am also thinking of making it a 2 nighter (Fri night and Sat night). I am going to speak with the Holiday Inn Express in Kitty Hawk this week to see if they can offer any type of discount. My thoughts on this hotel is that it is central to alot of the sites (Corolla, Lighthouses, monuments, and closer to those that will go with camping option) Also close to restaurants as well. Price is not too bad on hotels.com and is MUCH cheaper than the Hampton Inn. I will see if we can get any more of a discount and post any stipulations here.

yes that is true we actually usually stay in Manteo on the sound when we go down that way we can go all the way from Hatteras up to Carova. Sounds like a good idea!

So the dates are October 22-23. Hotel discount rate is good for 2 night stay (21-22). It is $85.00 +tax per night.

Lacey is in the process of getting info for those that may want to camp. We will post as soon as we get that info.

Based on this info, should I add you to the list of attending? (hope so! Smile )

Thanks

David

Awesome Cliff, glad you are going! As far as beaches go - dogs are allowed I believe, but maybe on leash? Anyone know for sure? As far as allowed in campground, not sure as of yet...

I think we should camp on the beach. Hotels make for a much more expensive and less offroading trip

Well, thats why there are 2 options on the table.... Laughing

Personally, I am a cool-cold weather camper myself, and even in October on the Banks, it is too hot for me...

IMO.

everything i found says that dogs are allowed as long as they are maintained on a 6ft leash or less and you clean up after them.
