I'm heavily considering buying a bar (or two, depending on size/cost), but I can't figure out where to put it on my truck. Any suggestions???

You could replace the IPFs and put some on the bumper.

I'd really like to keep those IPF's where they are if possible, because they fill that area nicely and come in handy quite often. However, I wonder if the 7.5" bar would fit right in between those two lights (hanging from the upper bar)?

Another possibility would be to remove the two center IPF's on the roof rack and replace with the 21.5" bar.... hmmmm if only I had Photoshop and skills

I meant the roof IPFs. My bad. I wasn't clear. here is a photo of an ARB roof rack with 3 LED bars up there.

Thanks to my "MS Paint" skills, here's a bit what it'd look like on my truck. Keep in mind I've only got the half rack, so the lights sit further back on the roof:

IMO, it looks good... but I don't know if it's worth the time and money.

I think it looks sweet. Also it's going to be much brighter than the IPFs that are currently up there.

Oh I know it'd be a TON brighter than the current setup. I guess the main thing weighing on my mind is HOW OFTEN I would need that much light, when my current 12 lights up front still provide more than enough, you know what I mean? If money was no concern, I'd replace all my lights with LED/HID, but I feel like what I've got right now is more than enough in most cases.

I understand what you're saying. I use my LED bar as deer/wildlife lights when I'm the only one on the road at night so I don't hit one. I know you're up in charlotte, but my I'm from Atlanta and was able to use mine a fair amount.

Yeah if I lived out in those areas, I'd definitely see more reason to buy. I still might do something with these LED's, we'll see!

You could always put like a 13" on the top bar of the bumper

I thought about that as well, but I can't picture it well enough... I wouldn't want it sticking up too far above the bar. I wonder if it'd be difficult to mount on directly in FRONT of that top bar?

It's probably the same as mounting it on top of the bar.

I don't use my roof lights THAT much - but when I needed them off road they were a life saver.

I'm going to mount a 21.5" spot on the front bumper in sync with my high beams, a set of 2.5" pods on the rear (for backup lights and repair lights) and a 41.5" on the roof in a combo pattern for off road. The rear repair lights are a life saver when someone breaks down on the trail or even on the side of the road and you need light on the disabled vehicle.

Yeah, I am still highly considering doing the same thing with a 21.5" and wire it to my high beams as well.

I got my 21.5" combo wired up to my high beams yesterday. I did some quick testing last night and was impressed. It was raining so I had to snap pics fast and my iPhone camera kept doing some kind of light adjustment which made the light look dimmer, but the idea is still there in the pics. I'll try to get all the pics I took hosted on our server and up tomorrow. Or email me at Sales@SoutheastOverland.com and I'll email them to you.

Hey Steve, how difficult would it be to wire up these bars to the current wiring on my roof?  Right now, the IPF's are only 55watt, but I have a feeling (will confirm later) that the wiring was beefed up enough to support the higher draw from a 21.5" in the middle.  I know the sides would be able to handle the lower draw from 7.5" bars.  I'm mainly concerned with how the actual wiring goes, AKA would I typically be able to cut my current lights and splice the wires to the new setup like plug n play?

Here's a "photoshop" of my newest idea.  I think it's my best option:

Mitch,

LOL - I kept saying "He already HAS LEDs..." then I saw your note that this pic was a chop. I'm smart...really!...

Running wires to the roof isn't too bad. I ran mine through the engine bay (IIRC under the plastic trim on top of the inner fender) then up the inside of the outside A pillar and BAM! you are on the roof.

To pull the outside A pillar cover remove the grab handle on the inside, there will be a long threaded post with a small nut holding the A pillar on. Remove that nut being VERY careful not to drop it. I used a deep socket. Then you have to pull the outer A pillar off. There are 4 "snaps" holding it on. I broke two and most people do. You can buy replacements from Toyota. I didn't replace mine and all has been fine.

I wired a 21.5" combo bar straight into my Hella harness for two 55W 500FFs that were on my front bumper.

Confirm that your wiring is beefy enough. I'm not a fan of electrical fires. eeek!

I have my wiring harness spliced into the high beams so the lights on my front bumper come on with my high beams.

For the roof lights I spliced them into a separate relay and switch so they are independent of my stock vehicle lighting and I can cut them on as I please.

My reasoning behind those setups is I'll typically want the bar on the front bumper to come on with my high beams (and I can still cut that light off) but I do NOT want the roof light to accidentally come on with my high beams. In SC at least you can get a ticket for that.

PS: The shop is "closed" today but I'm in processing orders and such. I'll probably be here until 1 or 2.

Thanks!
