PostSubject: Plasti-dip wheels   Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:02 pm

I am starting this for 2 reasons. 1: I am going to get my black TRD wheels one way or another. 2: If anyone has used this and has some pointers let me have'em. I have been doing some research and it looks to very simple and provides awesome results. It is a cheap and easy way for me to get black wheels and I can change them back if I choose to later. Win-Win in my eyes.

You probably have already seen the write-ups on the other side (Blue Room). If not, there is alot of posts there. I have a second set of wheels I would like to sell, stock alooy wheels 07, in the mean time I have considered keeping them & plastic dipping them also. I just can't afford another set of tires right now.

It really is as easy as it seems. You don't even have to mask the tire, just spray everything! The excess Plasti-dip on the tire will peel right off.

IMHO plasti-dip will not last on a wheel. Plasti-dip is great to see what something would look like black. But if you really want it to last peel it off and spray the wheel with:

1. Self Etching Primer
2. Base Coat
3. Clear Coat

THAT ONLY WORKS ON 4-RUNNER STUFF.

I agree....first time a pressure washer hits it I think it will be toast.

I know that totald is longing for the black wheels. I would say flat black rattle can w/o the primer that way he would easily remove it later with alc. as well as touch up.
